Overleaf is the perfect solution for anyone running a LaTeX training workshop—no need for any participant to install LaTeX: just bring a portable device equipped with a modern browser. Because Overleaf is a cloud-based LaTeX platform, it minimises support requirements and significantly reduces the organizers' workload—helping the event get off to a flying start. One of our Advisors, Rodrigo Smarzaro, ran a workshop in May at Federal University of Viçosa, Brazil at Academic Week for the Information Systems Undergraduate Course. Here is a link to Rodrigo’s slides (they are in Portuguese). We also asked him a few questions about how it went and what was involved in setting it up.
The Digital Top 50 awards or DT50 were created by Google, McKinsey and Rocket Internet to celebrate the bold and trailblazing work of European entrepreneurs. The yearly awards assess top entrepreneurial talent from five categories: B2B and B2C Start-ups and Scale-ups as well as Tech for Social Impact Companies. We’re excited to announce that Overleaf has been nominated for the B2C scale-up category and one of our co-founders John Hammersley will be pitching the latest on Overleaf, our collaborative writing and publishing platform, at Tech Open Air (TOA) Berlin. TOA is Europe’s leading interdisciplinary technology festival and is where the DT50 winner will be announced the same day as the pitches on 21st June.
This is the fourth in a series of tips highlighting features available in Overleaf v2. If you'd like to try v2 for yourself, the beta is now open to the public at https://v2.overleaf.com. Overleaf v2 offers an impressive collection of new and upgraded collaboration features. The collaborative editing is faster and smoother than in Overleaf v1, and it shows you where your collaborators' cursors are as they type. The new track changes mode lets you see exactly what has been changed by your collaborators, and allows you to accept or reject each individual change. You can also comment on ranges of text in your document for precise communication.

This is the third in a series of tips highlighting features available in Overleaf v2. If you'd like to try v2 for yourself, the beta is now open to the public at https://v2.overleaf.com. Overleaf v2 lets you search your bibliography to quickly and easily insert the correct citation. As well as simple auto-complete of your bibliography keys, you can choose to search your bibliography entries by author name, title, publisher or year. This will save you time from wading through your .bib files looking for the right keys, or trying to remember them.
This is the second in a series of tips highlighting features available in Overleaf v2. If you'd like to try v2 for yourself, the beta is now open to the public at https://v2.overleaf.com. Link sharing is an easy way to distribute your project to collaborators. In Overleaf v1, link sharing is on by default. In v2, it's off by default, but you can easily turn it on.
Following our announcement at the start of May that the public beta of Overleaf v2 is now open for all, we’ve been collating your early feedback and first impressions of the new platform over the past couple of weeks. As expected, this is a mix of feedback on features we’re continuing to develop for v2 (such as the rich text mode), along with some small UI/UX issues you ran into when trying out the new platform. We’ve now released some updates to v2 to address the most common of those small issues, which were concentrated on the look and feel of the code editor within v2 (compared to the existing Overleaf and ShareLaTeX editors), and on the wording around archived/deleted projects on the dashboard.
Through a series of happy coincidences, Overleaf was able to support the recent 1st Annual Trent Mathematical Science Research Symposium. Our sponsorship allowed us to offer an award, and 'most entertaining talk' seemed like a worthy prize! We're thus delighted to share the news that the winner of the Overleaf Award for Most Entertaining Talk was Skye Griffith.
This is the first in a series of tips highlighting features available in Overleaf v2. If you'd like to try v2 for yourself, the beta is now open to the public at https://v2.overleaf.com. Autocompile is available in Overleaf v2! This is a new feature for those who have been using ShareLaTeX, and a familiar one for Overleaf users.
Since Overleaf joined forces with ShareLaTeX last year, our goal has been to create an online editor that outshines both ShareLaTeX and Overleaf. One that is simple to get started with for beginners, has powerful collaboration features for teams, and that seamlessly integrates with the other tools and publishers you work with. We’ve come a long way since we started last July, and there’s still a lot of work to do, but we’re excited to announce that as of this month you can try out the new Overleaf v2 editor!
Natalie Jonk and Christopher Hoskin both joined Overleaf in the first week of April 2018, as Community Manager and Senior Software Developer respectively. Overleaf has grown immensely since John and I first started out over five years ago, and today I'm delighted to announce the arrival of two new team members who bring a wealth of experience and expertise in their respective areas.
You can use your favorite reference manager with Overleaf. We have direct integrations with Mendeley and Zotero, and you can easily upload a .bib file from other services.
Weiterlesen →
